False allegations against Georgia election workers
Editorial record through October 30, 2026. Later developments are not reflected here.

Remember when?
Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss became targets of false vote-rigging allegations during efforts to contest Georgia's 2020 election. The January 6 committee documented their testimony about threats and harassment.
The January 6 committee reported that Trump mentioned Freeman by name repeatedly during his January 2, 2021 call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, while Giuliani made other specific false allegations. Its findings therefore connect some statements directly to Trump and others to his allies.
Why it matters
Casting identifiable election workers as criminals without evidence endangered individuals and undermined faith in vote administration.
The episode illustrates how public allegations about named private individuals can turn an election dispute into a personal safety problem. Evaluating the allegations against official investigations matters both for those workers and for public trust in election administration.
Administration response and important qualifications
Trump's allies portrayed surveillance video as suspicious evidence of misconduct. Multiple reviews rejected the underlying vote-fraud assertions; distinguish allegations made by different speakers rather than assigning every statement personally to Trump.

Evidence and competing interpretations
The committee report reproduces Freeman and Moss testimony about harassment and threats after false vote-rigging accusations. This documents their experiences and the committee’s findings; it also records statements made by Trump himself, while attributing other accusations to Giuliani and others.
